If however the Food license renewal application is not filed within this time, then a penalty of Rs. 100 would be charged for each day of delay. Thus if the registration of the food license renewal of a license has not been applied for within the specified time, then the license is thus considered as expired and it is thus the business operator who also has to if his business activity is at the premises. The business operator then has to apply for a new license if they wish to restart their business. FSSAI License Renewal Procedure

The process to renew the FSSAI license can be done in either of 2 ways:

Online Procedure for FSSAI Food License Renewal

One can easily get FSSAI online and the renewal procedure is also the same with some changes. Comprehend the online procedure for renewing your FSSAI food license. For getting the license online and FBO has to follow some steps and then will get the license within 30-60 days.

To do so, you need to 1st build your user id and password to register with FSSAI. Once you have an online account with the experts, you can begin the application processing. Upon successful submission of the application, you will be given an application reference number in a position to maintain track of the status of the application for the renewal of a food license.

Steps for renewal of FSSAI license:

  1. Filling the Form A /Form B: Form A or Form B is thus required to be filled which is based on the eligibility of the Food Operator. These are the basic forms consisting of the business activities of the Food Operator which are required to be filled along with the self-attested declaration that you are required to comply with the guidelines of the Food Safety and Standard Act. A photo identity proof such as an Aadhar card, driving license, voter id card, passport etc is also required to be attached.
  2. Verification: On receiving your application, the authorities would then examine it and it could also arrange for an inspection at your business premises in order to make sure that you have disclosed all the information and it is submitted correctly.
  3. Completion: After a successful inspection of your business proceedings, if they are satisfied, then they issue a license in your favor.
  4. Getting the License: The license should then take not more than  60 days to reach you. If more than 60 days have passed and if you have not received the license, then you can resume your business without waiting for any further notice. Food license renewal is very easy to obtain.

  1. List of Proprietor / Partners / Directors/ Executive Members of Society with their complete address and contact details.

  4. PAN Card
  5. Address Proof- Telephone or Mobile Bill/ Electricity or Gas Bill)
  6. Copy of Property papers (if owned)
  7. Copy of Rent Agreement and NOC letter from the Landlord (if rented)
  8. Partnership Deed/ MOA/AOA of the firm or Copy of Certificate obtained under the Co-Operative Act, 1861 in case of Co-Operatives
  9. NOC from the manufacturer (in case of Distributor) / NOC from Municipality or local body
  10. An E-Code document issued by DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade)
  11. Form IX Nomination of Persons by a Company along with the Board Resolution

Documents Required for FSSAI Food license renewal of Manufacturing and Processing Units

  1. Blueprint plan / Layout plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions in meters/square meters and operation-wise area allocation.
  2. Name and List of Equipment and Machinery along with their number, installed capacity and horsepower used.
  3. A list of food categories desired to be manufactured.
  4. Letter of Authority from the responsible person nominated by the manufacturer with name and address, along with alternative responsible person indicating the powers vested with them via assisting the officers in inspections, a collection of samples, packing & dispatch.
  5. Report on Analysis (Chemical & Bacteriological) of water to be used as an ingredient in food from a recognized/ public health laboratory.

The process of renewal of the FSSAI license is thus the same as the process of application of the FSSAI license.

Consequences of expiring Food Licence 

If the application for FSSAI license renewal is not filed within the specified time, then Rs. 100 per day of delay will be charged. If the application of a renewal license is not been applied within the stipulated time then it inspected as expired, and a new license is expected to be applied in case the business has to carry out operations. So to evade the penalty, it is recommended to renew the license in time.

The Registration of License will continue to be in work till such the time orders on the renewal application are allowed, which must not pass 30 days from the date of expiry of registration or license.

If you do not want to attract any fine, then keep your FSSAI license renewed as per the FSSAI guidelines. You are suggested to renew your FSSAI license before its expiry and it is continually better to apply for FSSAI registration renewal, the time you receive the notification.

You must go for FSSAI registration renewal 30 days before the expiration of the license to avoid the charges of late renewal.

When you apply to renew the FSSAI license, FSSAI leads an inspection of your registered FBO’s premises to examine for compliance with regulations. In, this procedure the regulations which have been set by FSSAI under the FFSA are controlled by a Food Safety Officer. The officer tests for agreement, quality of product amenities, working provisions, food approach techniques of the operators.
