FSSAI is an abbreviation which is used for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. FSSAI license is mandatory before the process of starting any kind of food business. All the manufacturers, traders, restaurants who are however involved in the food business must obtain a 14-digit registration or a license number which thus must be printed on food packages.
This step is taken by the government in order to ensure that food products are required to undergo certain quality checks, thereby thus reducing the instances of adulteration, substandard products and improve accountability of manufacturers.
The purpose of this article is to make the reader aware of the fact as to what is the process of granting food license or registration by FSSAI to food business operator.
In order to obtain the license or registration from FSSAI to the food business operator , One can however file the FSSAI application thus directly with the government. The process however is long and it thus requires 30-60 days to get completed .
Some of the steps that are required to be followed are :
Fill the FSSAI form A on the FSSAI website and then make the payment for the FSSAI application at the FBO nearby your locality.
Once the payment confirmation is however reflected in your FSSAI account, you are however required in order to file Form B with the government. There are thus multiple declarations and the resolutions that are however needed to be filed with your application. E.g., the board resolution, owner self-declaration. These declarations should thus ideally be prepared by a company secretary.
You will thus then be needed in order to follow-up with the government department for an update on your application. The government may thus send back your application for the edits – if you fail however to respond within 15 days of the application, then your application thus will be rejected.
The government department will thus take 45-60 working days in order to completely review the application and also to approve the same.
