Only the sea products and the produce/grains in the hands of fishermen and the farmers respectively which are out of the scope of FSSAI. Some of the other types of food products which are imported, fresh and packaged also come under the lens of FSSAI.
FSSAI came into existence after the previous food safety act, Prevention of Food Adulteration Act (PFAA), but it did not meet its policing abilities. There are many benefits of FSSAI License that gives great advantages to the business owner. The aim of FSSAI is that what you eat is safe for consumption. FSSAI has also given authority to the consumers in order to file complaints if they have found that any product is failing its food nutritional requirements. Afterward, the FSSAI carries out the investigation of the food product in the certified laboratories. Moreover, provision of compensation to the consumer is also provided.
FSSAI has made it mandatory in order to show certain labels for the consumer satisfaction-

FSSAI aims at creating a network that helps in connecting all panchayats, public and consumers etc. in order to receive speedy and reliable information about food safety concerns. The Act also aims to establish a single reference point for all the matters that are relating to the food safety and standards, by moving from a multi-level, multi-departmental in order control to a single line of command. To this effect, the Act establishes as an independent statutory Authority – the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India with head office at Delhi.
